How it all started

In highschool, Anthony and Jessica enrolled in an honors humanities course in their Homeschool Co-op. For their final assignment they were tasked with creating a project that demonstrated a thorough understanding of any point in history between Creation and the Christianization of Rome. They had to spend at least 40 documented hours planning, constructing, and finalizing the project. Immediately,  Anthony took a look around his room and saw the 32 drawers full of his favorite mini-figures.

They spent the next 120 hours scripting, shooting, and editing the first ever Wars of Humanity episode. Using the Digital Blue Movie Creator as their portable recording studio, camera, and editor’s suite, they pressed on through 20 days of filming.

The movie was created with the expectation of having a viewing audience of no more than 4 families and the class instructor. A few months later, Mrs. Rondina received an email from Vision Forum with regard to their first annual San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. Since the movie was already completed and (it appeared) that there was no more work needed on the film, they sent it in. Needless to say their 640 x 480 resolution film did not even make it to the semi-finals. However, they did have a chance to talk with Mr. Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum Ministries, and he suggested that they “clean up” the footage a bit and resubmit it the following year.

Well, you cannot simply “clean up” pixels that do not exist. So the Rondinas purchased a Canon Digital Rebel and reshot the entire film. This time it took 180 hours to animate the film. Despite their previous understanding, there was a lot of room for improvement.
